June 2018 Release

About this update

The Zoola Team continues on its journey to deliver you the most widely used Learning Analytics solution in the market. We are excited to share a couple highlights of the most recent enhancements that we have released.

Zoola

  • ENHANCEMENTWith this release we have made some significant improves to the general user experience of Zoola. The main area that is affected by these user interface improvements is the Zoola landing page, but other enhancements have been made throughout the product.

The user interface redesign includes the following enhancements

  • New Ad Hoc View, Report & Dashboard icons
  • Recently viewed items area that can be used to quickly access recently used Zoola resources (ad hoc views, reports & dashboard).
  • Updated Zoola header menu, including user menu with nested help and log back to LMS buttons.
  • General style enhancements to better suit the overall look and feel of the site.

  • ENHANCEMENT: In addition to the user interface improvements, we have also built out an entirely new workflow which is aimed at allowing Zoola customers to self register for our services. This workflow is built to allow a user to perform a connectivity test between Zoola and the LMS. This can be performed through a form which accepts LMS and database information and then performs a connectivity test with the appropriate notifications and warnings being generated.

Upon success completion of the connectivity test the user can then enter their organization information, which is used to register the LMS site within Zoola. Once the site has been registered, Zoola will issue and API key and access to the Zoola plugin suite, which can be used to activate your Zoola account.

We have built this process to provide our customers greater access and control over the installation process. The connection test setup can be used to test multiple LMS connections and complete the configuration/registration without the aid of Lambda's Support team. We hope that with the introduction of this service it will allow for much faster  and more successful Zoola installations.

  • ENHANCEMENT: Based on a number of requests from our customers we have included the ability to embed Ad Hoc Views in the same way that Reports and Dashboards can be embedded within the LMS. This process can simplify the embedding process, which can now be completed without having to generate a Report from your Ad Hoc View. The key benefit of this process is that Crosstabs can now be embedded within the LMS and retain their expanding and collapsing functionality.

  • ENHANCEMENTFinally, we have also included a new series of reports that coincide with a Master Class session that we ran about Competencies. The User Competency Overview report and Competency Scales Summary reports are designed to show the competencies that have been completed across the site, with information such as parent competency, scale, rating and proficiency. These reports provide a quick glance view of your LMS users proficiency in a series of skills so you can quickly identify the level of competence in particular skill sets and learning gaps. These reports can be found under the Reports > View Existing area within Zoola. This functionality is currently available for Moodle but will be made available for Totara in July.
